Research & Teaching

Teaching

This year, Marissa Diener, associate professor in family and consumer studies, was awarded the U’s Distinguished Faculty Service Award. In addition, the college recognized Kathleen Nicoll in geography and Heather Melton in sociology as the junior and senior recipients of the CSBS Superior Teaching Award.

Interdisciplinary Research and Partnerships

CSBS faculty continue to increase efforts to work with researchers from other disciplines and to partner with other organizations to do impactful research.

Research Highlights

The college held the first annual CSBS Research Day to encourage graduate and undergraduate student research. Fifty students participated – 31 graduate and 19 undergraduate. Participants' research posters papered the interior walls of Orson Spencer Hall from April 28 through May 9.

The college continues to contribute significantly to the research and teaching mission of the U. Virtually every year a faculty member receives a university teaching award and the faculty reputation for impactful disciplinary and interdisciplinary research continues to increase.
