Interdisciplinary Research and Partnerships
CSBS faculty continue to increase efforts to work with researchers from other disciplines and to partner with other organizations to do impactful research. The following are representative of faculty-with-faculty and faculty-with-communitycollaborations.
- Four CSBS professors – Barbara Brown and Ken Smith from family and consumer studies, Carol Werner from psychology and Harvey Miller from geography received an NIH grant to investigate the effects of an environmental change on physical activity.
- Ken Smith, a professor in family and consumer studies, and Shannen Robson, a Ph.D. student and researcher in anthropology, published a study on mothers of twins living longer that received widespread coverage including an article in The Economist.
- The National Center for Veterans Studies conducted a national study with the Student Veterans Association that found an alarming risk of suicide in student veterans on college campuses. Dean David Rudd worked with Dr. Craig Bryan from the University of Texas and Jeff Goulding from the University of Utah to complete the study.
