Research Highlights
The college held the first annual CSBS Research Day to encourage graduate and undergraduate student research. Fifty students participated – 31 graduate and 19 undergraduate. Participants' research posters papered the interior walls of Orson Spencer Hall from April 28 through May 9. To see who won please click here.
CSBS faculty have significantly increased their efforts to submit research proposals to grant-making organizations over the past few years. In 2009-2010, research proposals increased from $15 million to $30 million – a 98 percent increase. In 2010-2011, research proposals increased to $31.2 million. The increase in submitted research proposals is paying off for the college. Actual funding from the grant proposals currently sits at $6.1 million compared to $3.5 million and $3 million the previous two years. |
The college recognized Andrew Jorgenson in sociology and Zachary Zimmer in sociology as junior and senior recipients of the CSBS Superior Research Award. For a list summarizing the research of many of our distinguished faculty please click on the pictures below.
