About Dr. Jude Mikal

Dr. Jude Mikal has eight years' experience working in research and research development. Beginning in 2008, Jude worked for two of the flagship departments at the University of California, Santa Barbara preparing over $130M in proposals per year and managing $50M in extramural grant funding.

After completing his PhD in 2010, Jude took a position at the UCSB Interdisciplinary Humanities Center as the Research Development Consultant. As Research Development Consultant at UCSB, Jude provided one-on-one consulting, workshops and quarter-long courses to faculty, researchers and advanced graduate students across 21 departments in the humanities, fine arts and humanistic social sciences.

Dr. Mikal began working with faculty in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Utah in August of 2012. In that time, he has organized funding workshops for graduate students, grant writing workshops for faculty, and provided one-on-one consultations with faculty at all levels. He hopes to continue his work with faculty, and to implement programs to increase extramural funding success across all seven CSBS departments.
