A look inside President Trump’s policies for U.S. families
Americans pondering whether President Donald Trump has helped families during his
nearly four years in office are finding the answer depends on which policies they
like.But nearly everyone points to paid parental leave for federal employees as a
positive step toward helping families. Many experts have pushed for a far-reaching,
universal federal leave policy, but they say this is finally a start.
“That’s the first time that there’s been a program, at least at the federal level,” said Daniel L. Carlson, associate professor of family, health and policy in the Department of Family and Consumer Studies at the University of Utah.
