Matthew Burbank on GOP Online Voting
For thousands of Utah Republicans, caucusing could consist of little more than accessing
the internet and casting their ballet. The idea is to increase the amount of voter
participation in the state, and the University of Utah's own political science professor
Matthew Burbank commented, "It has attracted some attention from young voters, the
number of people who otherwise might not have bothered to go to the caucus are saying
they can do this online." He also added that the idea was, "an experiment worth trying,"
and that part of the reason for doing it was because Democrats in this state do not
have the resources to do the same.
