Burbank weighs in on billboard-friendly legislation

matthew burbankIn 2016, Reagan Outdoor Advertising gave nearly $80,000 to 75 of Utah's 104 lawmakers. In the most recent session, legislation to help billboard companies passed through the House and Senate with overwhelming support. Matthew Burbank, associate professor of political science, said, “The concern with campaign contributions is less the sense that a donation will ‘buy’ a legislator’s vote, but that contributions tend to ensure that certain interests have better and more meaningful access to legislators than ordinary citizens do.” Read more about this recent change
