Douglas Petersen is International Trade Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance. In that role, he advises the Chairman and Members of the Committee concerning U.S. and international trade laws, policies, and agreements; drafts and negotiates trade legislation; oversees trade policy functions of U.S. agencies; and represents the Chairman in consultations.
Previously, Douglas was an international trade attorney with White & Case LLP and
a trade policy analyst with the Cato Institute.
Douglas graduated from the University of Utah with an honors B.S. Economics, an honors
B.A. English, and as a recipient of a Merit Scholarship with Presidential Honors and
scholarships from the Economics Department (Jewell J. & LaRue J. Rasmussen Scholarship),
the English Department, the Hinckley Institute of Politics, the Honors College, and
the College of Humanities. He earned an M.Sc. International Political Economy from
the London School of Economics and a J.D. from New York University.
