NEXUS hosts meeting to enable the next generation of disaster researchers

Enabling  NEXUSNEXUS recently hosted a team of scholars who gathered to award fellowships for an NSF-funded program designed to enable the next generation of disaster researchers. Each fellow will be assigned a mentor in her or his discipline to assist in preparing a competitive research proposal for the Humans, Disasters & the Built Environment (HDBE) program in the Division of Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation. The project is led by Tom Cova and Tim Collins (Geography), Sara Grineski (Sociology) and Terri Norton (Bucknell University).  The broader group will meet in San Juan, Puerto Rico in June 2020 and then attend the Natural Hazards Workshop in Boulder, Colorado in July 2021.
