Op-ed: The Hallmark of the U's Department of Economics is its Commitment to Competing Perspectives
CSBS Dean Cynthia Berg and Department of Economics Chair Norman Waitzman responded
to the recent Deseret News editorial that mischaracterized the economics department
as having a Marxian ideological bias. They stated that the department is committed
to exposing students to a broad range of theoretical perspectives, including Marx,
which has become all too rare as our economic system is being threatened by a loss
