A Campaign for our Students

Dean RuddAs many of you know and have experienced firsthand, the cost of higher education, both public and private, has escalated dramatically over the last decade. The net outcome of reduced state funding for public universities has been shifting disproportionate costs to the students through tuition and fee increases. The vast majority of our students hold part-time jobs, many working over thirty hours per week. Juggling a full-time job and the demands of college is no easy job, but it speaks to their dedication, commitment and remarkable work ethic.

Please join me in the 2012-2013 College of Social and Behavioral Science Scholarship Campaign. We currently award approximately $200,000 annually in scholarship support. Our goal is to reach $500,000 for the 2013-2014 academic year. Let me say thank you for your previous and continuing generosity. It literally changes lives. Having talked to many a student, I can personally attest to the difference scholarship awards make in the lives of our students, freeing them up to make the most of what can be a remarkable experience at the U.

This spring we will be hosting scholarship dinners around the country. I hope you will join us and take advantage of the opportunity to meet some of our students and current donors. Once you do, I think you’ll agree with me that there is, arguably, not a better way to contribute to our future than by providing scholarship support to students in need. Below is a list of cities and dates for our campaign dinners. Please feel free to contact me directly or Rick Pike to express your interest in participating. Together we can make a difference. Together we can help change lives. I look forward to hearing from you.
