Ambassadors Shape Spring Agenda

The CSBS Student Ambassadors have been busy cultivating a variety of events for this semester, including projects with MUSE, Bennion Elementary School, and the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program.

The Other Wes Moore Event

February 27-28

This year's Read with MUSE project focuses on The Other Wes Moore, a book written by Wes Moore that compares and contrasts his life growing up in Baltimore with another Wes Moore. The ambassadors and MUSE have arranged for Wes Moore to visit campus later this month. Moore will speak on February 28 at 11 a.m. in the Bill and Pat Child Community Hall of the Spencer Fox Eccles Business Building.

Bennion Elementary Field Trip

March 4

The CSBS Ambassadors will bring Bennion Elementary students and their parents to the university to tour campus, visit academic departments, and participate in a financial aid workshop. Ambassador Gevon Guerra says, "We want to show the students and their parents that achieving higher education is possible and the various resources that are available in order to get there."

The ambassadors and other U students continue to tutor students at Bennion.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Workshop

March 5

UROP has seen a substantial increase in the number of CSBS students participating in research projects, largely due to the series of fall research workshops put together by the ambassadors. The push to get students involved will continue, with the next workshop being held on March 5 in the Collegiate Room at the Union.

The Town and U

March 27

The ambassadors have partnered with the Honors College and ASUU for a scholarship development project. On March 27, dine at any one of four local restaurants and they will donate a percentage of their proceeds to the college. There will also include a showing of Inequality for All at 7 p.m. in the FMAB Auditorium, with a panel discussion immediately following the showing. Check the CSBS website for more details to come.
