Dr. Anu Asnaani Honored with the Award for Distinguished Scientific Early Career Contributions to Psychology from the
American Psychological Association

Salt Lake City, UT – 10/16/2023 - Dr. Anu Asnaani, Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Utah, has been awarded the prestigious Award for Distinguished Scientific Early Career Contributions to Psychology from the American Psychological Association (APA). This award recognizes excellent psychologists who are at early stages of their research careers.

anu asnaaniA licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Asnaani serves as the director of the Treatment Mechanisms, Community Empowerment, and Technology Innovations (TCT) laboratory at the University of Utah. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University from 2007-2013, and her clinical internship from the Brown Alpert Medical School from 2012-2013. Dr. Asnaani's research is centered on understanding the underlying mechanisms of effective treatments for fear-based disorders, including anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, within diverse local and global community settings.

With a portfolio comprising 85 peer-reviewed research publications, Dr. Asnaani has also recently sole-authored a book, published by Oxford University Press. Her publication delves into the critical examination of diversity considerations and social justice practices within evidence-based psychological treatments, underscoring her commitment to advancing the field of psychology.
