group of fcs studentsThe College of Social and Behavioral Science (CSBS) is thrilled to announce the outstanding achievement of the University's Financial Planning Association Student Council in clinching victory at The Financial Planning Challenge Cup. Hosted by the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of the Utah-Idaho Chapter, this competition brought together participation from financial planning programs across the region, highlighting the depth of talent within our academic community.

The challenge itself provided a rigorous platform for students to apply their learnings, with teams tasked to develop comprehensive financial plans for hypothetical clients. Through meticulous analysis and strategic planning, participants showcased their expertise during the written phase, followed by oral presentations in front of a distinguished panel of judges.

The team from the University of Utah's Financial Planning Association Student Council comprised Alexander C Lewis (President), Parker Adams (Vice President), Jackson Kenneth Dunkle, and Destiny Ellena John. Team advisors included Su Shin  (Associate Professor – Department of Family and Consumer Studies; director of financial planning program), Jason Floyd  (career-line faculty in the Department of Family and Consumer Studies), and Brett Watson (industry advisor at Medicus Wealth Planning). Their exceptional performance exemplifies the caliber of education offered within the Financial Planning and Counseling major.
