Frequently Asked Questions - Prospective Students

Most AP/IB classes will count for college credit if you score high enough on your AP and IB exam. Learn more about minimum scores and what they will translate to at the U on Admissions’ Prior Credit Website.

Upon admission, incoming first-time and transfer students must register for an orientation date. On that date, students are connected with our advisors to discuss the best first semester classes, any prior credit, your interests, and get registered for classes!

  • In your time with your CSBS Advisors at orientation, they will take the time to create the best first semester class schedule with you. You’ll discuss your major interests, any previous credit and how it will translate to the U, and help you register. This isn’t the end of that relationship though – they’ll still be able to connect with an advisor via UMail with questions, or meet for drop-ins or an appointment! Our goal is to leave you feeling confident, with a balanced class schedule, and know you can come back for support!
  • If you do not have final grades in some of your transfer classes or AP scores, consider bringing a copy with you when talking with an advisor!

If you indicated a CSBS Major on your Admissions application you will be on our list for orientation (if you need to fix this, please contact The Office of Orientation & Transition)! Before and during your virtual orientation dates, you will be invited via UMail with how to schedule an appointment. If you are having issues scheduling from those emails, please contact us at 801-213-1144.
