Herbert Vetoes 3 Bills
Gov. Gary Herbert vetoed 3 bills last Wednesday, including a plan for $3 million for the K-3 early intervention program and $1.5 million for the UPSTART online preschool program. When asked his opinion on why Herbert would do such a thing, Tim Chambless, a University of Utah political science professor, said that, "The governor is being challenged strongly from the right within his party. He's sending a message to reassure his delegates right now that he is indeed a very conservative governor." You can read more here.
