PTSD Work Receives 4 Grants
Congratulations to NCVS Director Craig Bryan on receiving four new grants for his work on PTSD and veterans (see below for titles and descriptions).
"Early indicators of suicide found on social networks and other online forums"
Funded by the Defense Suicide Prevention Office
The primary aim of this project is to determine if social media posts can be reliably
coded by trained raters and used to differentiate between military personnel who died
by suicide and military personnel who died of violent accidents.
"Group cognitive processing therapy for survivors of human trafficking: a pilot study"
Funded by Psychology Beyond Borders
The primary aim of this project is to determine the feasibility of group cognitive
processing therapy for the treatment of PTSD among female youths who survived the
human trafficking trade. Cognitive processing therapy is an empirically-supported
treatment for PTSD, but has not yet been tested in the Cambodian culture or with human
trafficking survivors.
"Spin, unit climate, and aggression: near term, long term, and reciprocal predictors
of violence among workers in military settings"
Funded by DOD
The primary aim of this project is to identify predictors of physical and verbal aggression
and violence among military personnel.
"Improving universal suicide prevention screening in primary care by reducing false
negatives"
Funded by DOD
The primary aim of this project is to develop a universal suicide prevention screening
tool that prospectively predicts suicide attempts in a large primary care population.
To date, no studies have evaluated the prospective validity of a suicide prevention
screening tool in primary care settings.
